This is a list of items for your dog and cat to stay away from, especially during the holiday season:

AdultPetWellness1-150x112Chicken Jerky treats – made in China – seem to contain an as yet unidentified kidney toxin

Chocolate – everyone knows about this, but always good to remind

Fatty table food – can cause Pancreatitis – an extremely painful dangerous condition

Meat bones – can cause intestinal obstruction, often requiring surgery

Xylitol – artifically sweetened baked goods, gum, artificial sweetener – this will kill a dog very easily, and the problem is worsened by the fact that it is apparently healthy for people teeth.

Car antifreeze – just a teaspoon will kill a cat

Prescription and non-prescription (‘recreational’) drugs

About Daniel Mudrick

I'm the owner and founder of Clarkson Village Animal Hospital, a state-of-the-art veterinary hospital that's open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Clarkson Village Animal Hospital has always been a dream of mine, and by caring for one patient at a time, the hospital has continued to grow. During those rare times when I'm not at the hospital, I'm at yoga, hiking, gardening, and spending time with my family. I also enjoy reading to stay current on the most recent advances in veterinary medicine.
